Two Charged In Connection With Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Two individuals are now facing charges following a luggage theft where a suspected irritant spray led to people being hurt at London's Heathrow Airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of using a harmful chemical, authorities have stated.
The charges follow an probe of an attack at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after getting out of a car park lift, authorities reported.
A young child was caught up in the incident during the incident. Five people required hospital care and were later discharged.
This event – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not considered a terror-related act – resulted in train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
