Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he finally felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can at last express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "When we commenced spending more time together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "any day without mirth".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to guide it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles judge agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive issued a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a record noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the killings, public figures offered different responses.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing provocative statements that were met with immediate backlash by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an associate should have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
