Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.”
His release from the hospital follows the sports world shared sympathy for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
